Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) is the 30th largest university in the UK with a student population of just over 25,000 students. With history dating back to 1823, it started out as the Liverpool Mechanics School of Arts, later merging and becoming Liverpool Polytechnic, then in 1992 gained its name it is today.

It also has a health teaching facility in Aylesbury which was opened in partnership with Buckingham Healthcare NHS trust at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, it is also home to the world renowned National Spinal Injuries Centre.
